The City University of Colorado became a junior college in 1975 and changed its name to the City College of Colorado the next year. Stephen college became an independent company in 1987 and began to award a four-year degree. In 1990, Colorado City College and Stephen College moved to the 126 acre Denver Campus and began to provide four-year degrees in 1974 (when Colorado City College and Stephen college merged). Colorado City University obtained university status on January 1, 1999.

In 1990, the City University of Colorado and Stephen City College moved to the 126 acre Denver Campus and began offering four-year degrees in 1974 (when the college merged with the city college company).
